OUR daily blog with the latest news, transfer rumours and gossip about Hull City in the Premier League.
Hull City could face serious competition for two of their prime signing targets, according to reports today. Although Steve Bruce is working on a 'one out, one in' basis, he is still known to be keen on Marseille striker Andre Ayew. But reports in the Sunday Mirror today say Everton are also pursuing the Ghana star, who is a free agent at the end of the season. That means he can be signed when the transfer window opens next month. The Mirror says if Everton beat City to his signature, he will join the Merseyside club in the summer. Meanwhile City's hopes of signing Aaron Lennon in the transfer window could be dashed – by Inter Milan. The Tottenham winger has started just three Premier League games under new boss Mauricio Pochettino, sparking suggestions he could leave White Hart Lane. With their Spurs connection through Tom Huddlestone, Jake Livermore and Michael Dawson, the Tigers have been linked< with a move for the out-of-favour England man. However, the Sunday People reports the Italians could throw a spanner in the works by making their own January move.Inter coach Roberto Mancini knows the 27-year-old well from his time in charge at Manchester City, and wants him at the Serie A club next month and the Italians are prepared to offer Colombia right-winger Fredy Guarin, 28, in exchange. Lennon is in his 10th season at White Hart Lane since leaving his hometown club Leeds, making him the club's longest-serving star.Merson backs City to avoid drop - with help of JanuzajSKY Sports pundit Paul Merson is backing City boss Steve Bruce to turn things around – but says the Tigers need a creator like Manchester United's Januzaj if they are to escape the drop zone. Asked whether Bruce is under pressure following the 1-0 loss to Swansea, Merson said: "I'd like to think not because he's a top, top manager, I don't think there's a need to panic but I'm a bit worried about them. "Eleven attempts, three on target, I can't remember 11 attempts, I never once got out of my seat. "I didn't get that and that was the worrying thing for me with Hull. "Playing at home they didn't get the fans off their seat and that would probably be a worry." And Merson agreed City are lacking a goalscorer and a creative player. "They haven't got a goalscorer and they haven't got a player who's going to create something special, like a Ben Arfa before he went back," added Merson. "You need something off the cuff, someone who's going to do something special. "You may have to carry that player for 89 minutes but they might do something out of the ordinary. "They have a load of honest lads who give their all, but sometimes that ain't good enough, you need someone who is going to do something special and I think he's he got to go into the market and get someone like that." Merson concluded by saying Bruce's Manchester United connection might enable a move for Januzaj. Reports in Manchester suggest unless United find a good loan placement for Januzaj, they face risk losing the player for good. Both Real Sociedad, now managed by David Moyes, and Inter Milan are said to be keen on a loan move for the Belgian in January.Fletcher would benefit from move SCOTLAND assistant boss Mark McGhee believes Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher still has plenty to offer potential January suitors, including Hull City. The 30-year-old, now back playing for Manchester United after a battle with ulcerative colitis, has been tipped for a move away from Old Trafford, with the Tigers and Celtic apparently interested in the midfielder's services. Fletcher has lost his Scotland starting place to the likes of Scott Brown, Charlie Mulgrew and James Morrison. Former Aberdeen striker McGhee told The Herald he thinks Fletcher could benefit from a move to first team football.Tom's plea for City to stay united SUSPENDED Tom Huddlestone wants Hull City's squad to stay united in a bid to fight their way out of their current slump. Saturday's 1-0 defeat against Swansea means the Tigers will spend Christmas languishing in 19th after a 10-game winless run. But Huddlestone, who is currently serving a four-game ban for collecting five yellows and one red card this season, took to Twitter post game after watching the Swans collect all three points at the KC.Tough time for everyone at the moment. we have to all stick together and keep working hard to get ourselves out of the current situation
