Humberside Police will receive £124 million in grants from the Government for 2015/16. The Home Office released the figures yesterday afternoon. The figures are yet to be put into context as financial officers at the police and crime commissioner's office study a number of statistics. But it is understood the figure is what both Humberside police and crime commissioner Matthew Grove and Humberside Police were expecting. Deputy police and crime commissioner, Paul Robinson, said: "We believe at this early stage it is within our expectations and what we had planned for in our medium term strategy up until 2019." The force must save £31m from its budget by 2019. Through its recent remodelling strategy, entitled The Future of Humberside Police, force bosses have devised a plan to save £22m. A consultation is ongoing on plans to raise the council tax precept by 1.99 per cent, which Mr Grove says could create a further £9m for the force. A 1.99 per cent rise would mean the average Hull resident would see their annual council tax bill rise by about £3.50.
