A BROKEN down freight train in Brough is causing delays for motorists and train passengers. Dozens of trains due to leave Hull have been cancelled and replacement bus services have been laid on. Passengers due to travel on First Hull Trains services to London Kings Cross are being taken by bus to Doncaster, before joining trains from there. Other services which have been cancelled include the 12.39pm train to Manchester, the 12.57pm to Sheffield, the 1.15pm to York and the 1.25pm to Doncaster. The broken down freight train stopped at the railway crossing in Skillings Lane after the driver saw smoke coming from one of the wagons. The barrier at the crossing will remain down until the freight train is checked. No trains can run between Hull and Goole or Selby until the train is moved. A replacement bus service is instead operating between the stations. Buses will run between these stations, extending journey times by up to 30 minutes. Delays are expected to continue until at least 2.15pm today. First Hull Trains services will start and terminate at Doncaster.
