North Ferriby United: Nathan Jarman and Tom Denton combo 'will click'

North Ferriby United striker Nathan Jarman admits his partnership with Tom Denton is beginning to flourish after struggling to find the net earlier this season.

Jarman had netted just once in his first nine games, before making it three from his last four matches with the final goal in Ferriby's 3-1 win over Leamington at the Eon Visual Media Stadium on Tuesday night.

It helped the Villagers climb from 10th to seventh ahead of Saturday's home FA Cup clash with Grantham.

Jarman is confident his partnership with Denton is finally taking off and hopes to build on his recent good form.

"We are playing a bit differently this season to last with big Dents up front with me," Jarman told the Mail.

"We are playing longer balls into him. I'm trying to get in on the back of that and it's starting to work now.

"I know where he is going and the chances are coming.

"We're talking more and more and sometimes it just takes a bit of time to click.

"It's about time I got on the goal trail this season.

"It only took me five games to get five goals last season although I had more penalties at this stage last season but that was our 13th game on Tuesday night.

"As long as we are scoring goals and winning games, I'm not bothered. The more goals the rest of the team scores, the less pressure there is on me and Dents."

Jarman's goal against Leamington took him to four for the season, joining Denton as the club's leading scorer.

The pair will hope to be amongst the goals as Ferriby look to book their place in the FA Cup third qualifying round when they face Grantham on Saturday.

Ferriby have never reached the first round proper and were knocked out in the fourth and final qualifying round last season.

Jarman accepts the win over Leamington was vital to give them the confidence to get the job done against the Evo-Stik Premier League mid-table side, who have taken four points from nine since beating Stamford 2-1 in the previous FA Cup round.

"It was important we got the win against Leamington after failing to win any of our last six league games," he said.

"We needed the win to go into Saturday's FA Cup game against Grantham. We did well in the cups last season and we've started with an FA Cup win to get us going.

"We want to do well in the cups again and get to the first round of the FA Cup which this club hasn't done before."
