ENGLISH managers in the Premier League like to stick together and show solidarity, and that's exactly what Harry Redknapp has done in his new book. The QPR boss has heaped praise on Hull City manager Steve Bruce, saying Louis Van Gaal couldn't have done a better job at the Tigers. Redknapp's new book, A Man Walks on to a Pitch, serialised in the Daily Mail, promises to be a fascinating read, and he has taken to defending the standard of English managers – claiming some don't get the plaudits they deserve. "Louis van Gaal couldn't have done a better job with Hull City than Steve Bruce did last year," Redknapp says. "Yet did his heroics in the League and FA Cup create even a ripple at Old Trafford? Was Steve, a great competitor and wonderful player for United, even considered for the Manchester United job? "OK, a few times in his career it hasn't worked out but that would be true of Van Gaal, too, if he had spent his managerial life at clubs like Sheffield United, Huddersfield Town or Hull. "I don't understand why owners suddenly lost faith in British managers. Unless Frank Lampard or John Terry gets the job, do you really see Roman Abramovich appointing an Englishman to Chelsea? Or even a British manager?"Elmohamady 'didn't fake Egypt injury' AHMED Elmohamady's withdrawal from the Egypt side to face Botswana has prompted calls that the Tigers winger faked the injury. Elmo was one of four players to miss out as the side left Egypt on Tuesday, as reports surfaced claiming the City star and goalkeeper Sherif Ekrami told a little white lie. However, the Egyptian FA Vice President Hassan Farid rubbished the reports, saying Elmo is a true professional. "I cannot believe that the two players claimed injury," Farid told Ahram Sports. "Elmohamady is a professional player and he knows his duties well, while Ekrami is one of the best Egyptian keepers."Robertson's Scotland rise spurs me on – Gauld IT seems as though Andy Robertson's call-up to the Scotland side is spurring others on to do exactly the same. The Hull City left-back's former team-mate at Dundee United, Ryan Gauld, hopes to emulate Robertson's rise to Gordon Strachan's side, which has given the 18-year-old plenty of encouragement. Gauld, now at Sporting Lisbon, is among two new faces in the Scotland squad for the European Championship qualifying double-header against Georgia and Poland and says ex-flatmate Robertson has set the benchmark how to impress in training to claim a coveted spot. "It is huge encouragement. It showed with the likes of Andy Robertson, the first time he did really well in training," Gauld told the Evening Times. "He managed to come off the bench against Poland to make his debut and he hasn't looked back since then. "It is great to play along top players (in training), it is a great opportunity to be able to do that." Gauld then joked: "He is telling me that he is one of the experienced heads now so I have to listen to him. Obviously he is great to have around, he is a great friend of mine so to have a well-known face around is good."Lenihan can't believe swift rise in Ireland side ANOTHER rising star in the Tigers ranks is Brian Lenihan, who has admitted he is as surprised as anybody at the pace of which his career has rapidly moved over the past 12 months. The 20-year-old right-back, who trained yesterday with the Irish senior squad for the first time, is impressing in City's development set-up after his summer move from Cork City. Lenihan knew there was interest elsewhere but tried to focus on the job with Cork, before linking up with Steve Bruce at the KC Stadium. "It's been crazy," he told the Irish Times. "Last year I didn't start for Cork City so then I went back to pre-season in January with the hope of doing well and getting into the team. Lucky enough I did, played a few good games and really enjoyed that. "Getting the move to Hull was brilliant and I'm settling in there at the moment, getting up to the pace of it and really enjoying it but then to have this (the international call-up) was unbelievable. "I played with the 15s, 19s and 21s so I'm kind of used to the international set-up but this will be completely different, a new challenge."Wolves striker reassures Sagbo will come good AND finally, Yannick Sagbo will prove a quality signing – that's the reassurance given by Wolves forward Nouha Dicko . The on-loan Tigers striker Sagbo has played in two games so far since his three-month move to Molineux, and could have opened his account had he not missed a glorious chance in the 3-1 defeat against Huddersfield. He then made a cameo appearance at the death in the 2-2 draw with Wigan. But Dicko, one of the players whose place has been put under threat by Sagbo's arrival, believes the Ivory Coast frontman will come good. "When a player comes on loan or signs here, you know it's a quality player because Wolves have ambition and they only bring good players into the club," Dicko told the Express and Star. "Hopefully, I can benefit from playing with Yannick so I'm looking forward to working with him because he's a quality player." "We played together against Huddersfield which wasn't too bad but I think there's still room for improvement. "Unfortunately, we didn't win and things didn't go as planned, but I'm sure we'll get the best out of him and he'll benefit from us as well."
