If Super League was played over 40 minutes, this would be a top-four clash.
Wigan top the table based on first-half performances with 31 points, while Rovers would have earned an impressive 28 points, eight more than they currently have.
And there lies the problem behind Rovers' season.
They have been good in the first half and poor after the interval.
Rovers and London are the only sides who have failed to turn a half-time deficit into a win.
Twice they have thrown away half-time leads to lose games which is why they are currently outside the play-off places with four matches to play.
One of those two games that slipped by came against tonight's opponents Wigan when they held a 20-14 lead.
However, the Warriors rallied in the second half to extend their winning record against the Robins to 12. That sequence of defeats has to come to an end sooner or later.
Tonight would be the ideal time to play the way they did to beat St Helens 40-10 at the KC Lightstream Stadium.
Wigan coach Shaun Wane wants to win everything going and that includes the League Leaders shield.
A win tonight will see the Warriors go top, even if it is only for 24 hours.
Rovers owe their fans a performance. If they do miss out on the play-offs, then they have to do so with a bang rather than a whimper. Everyone needs to step up and play their part by sticking to the gameplan. If they do what Chris Chester wants them to do, they could beat Wigan at the 13th attempt.
