Hull City manager Steve Bruce went into the season thinking he had more options in his squad than ever before, with picking a strikeforce a difficult challenge.
Those options have been lessened this week with Shane Long set to depart for Southampton.
It's still quite astonishing to see the kind of talent that could be on the bench this season. The likes of George Boyd and David Meyler could be forced to be patient to get on the field, even after doing wonders in the 2013-14 campaign.
But up front is where Bruce will have the biggest dilemma picking his team this week.
For me, Long would have been the first name on the sheet for Bruce.
He showed last year a turn of pace which City had been clearly lacking prior to his January signing. Also, scoring some crucial goals along the way, Long could have pounced on any mistakes QPR will make and I was looking forward to seeing what sort of impact he would have this season at the Tigers.
Nikica Jelavic wasn't expected to make the team at QPR having hardly played since the World Cup, with Bruce holding him back.
I don't see any choice now, though, than to throw the Croatian into the starting line-up because City need a target man and he's the only one available to do that role.
Sone Aluko showed he can perform under pressure when he scored the winner against AS Trencin at the KC Stadium and he's the obvious choice to partner Jelavic.
I know Tom Ince did well alongside Jelavic in Stuttgart last Sunday, but Aluko is a more dependable goal-scoring threat right now, and Ince needs to be playing behind them.
