POLICE are searching for arsonists who set fire to furniture next to a block of flats.
An abandoned sofa was pushed against the flats in Oakington Garth, Bransholme, and set alight.
It happened shortly after 1.30am on Sunday.
A spokesman for Humberside Police said: "An abandoned sofa was deliberately ignited adjacent to a residential block of flats, causing damage to the property."
He said it "potentially could have ended in tragedy".
