TEAM owner Bobby McEwan admits Hull Stingrays are still in the market for new players – despite signing defenceman Dmitri Rodin.
The 37-year-old Estonian has returned to the club, initially as injury cover for Jeff Smith, who is struggling with a foot problem.
Rodin, who played for the Rapid Solicitors Stingrays last season, will be available for the clashes in Cardiff tomorrow and at home to Sheffield Steelers on Sunday.
However, given Stingrays have won just once in their last 10 games, and sit bottom of the Elite League table, McEwan says Rodin is unlikely to be the last new arrival.
"We will be carrying an extra import for now because we are short on defence with Jeff Smith's injury and we thought we would do something to help the team," said McEwan.
"We do have other things in the pipeline as well, as we are looking to freshen things up."
Rodin spent last season at Stingrays, but started this campaign at English Premier League Sheffield Steeldogs. He was released by the EPL side before Christmas and joined their rivals Telford Tigers, but has now returned to the top flight.
"We were hoping to sign Dmitri in the summer, but because we had not completed formalities with Coventry to take over Stingrays, Dmitri had to take care of his family and went to the Steeldogs instead," said McEwan.
"With Smithy being injured for the last few weeks we needed cover and as Dmitri was available it made sense to sign him up."
