A TEENAGER who caused havoc in west Hull has been given an antisocial behaviour order.
Christopher John Smith, 14, has been stealing from shops and been abusive to staff at children's homes in the city.
He has also regularly been reported missing.
Police now hope the order will help Christopher, of Cavill Place, west Hull, to behave.
PC Trevor Needham, from the Pickering neighbourhood policing team, said: "He is very easily influenced and tends to get into trouble when he is mixing with the wrong people.
"A lot of the times he has been causing problems he has been showing off to his mates. He has also been aggressive and abusive to staff at children's homes, which they don't deserve.
"We also had evidence that he was getting involved in acquisitive crimes, such as shop thefts and burglary.
"His behaviour has not only been of an antisocial nature in the past, but it also put him in danger through repeatedly going missing and being out late at night causing problems.
"He is a very difficult boy, who is difficult to engage with so we hope this order will stop his behaviour."
The order lasts for two years and was made at Hull Magistrates Court following an application by Humberside Police.
Magistrates rejected an application to ban him for areas of the Boothferry and Gipsyville estates and stop him from associating with known troublemakers.
PC Needham said: "The court has given him the benefit of the doubt, but if we get more evidence he is causing problems with those people or in those areas then we will go back to court.
"He was given an interim order a few months ago and we haven't heard a peep out of him since, so I hope this order will help him.
"It was necessary to protect the public from his behaviour, but, hopefully, the Asbo will give him some guidelines as well.
"I am working with social services to try and get him some support as well as this order, to try and help him stay on the straight and narrow."
Christopher previously lived with his father in Elgar Road, west Hull, but has moved to his sister's address in Cavill Place after his father died.
Anyone who sees Christopher breaching the order is asked to call Humberside Police on 101.
