HULL City have turned their attentions to securing a deal for Norwich winger Robert Snodgrass as a summer of big spending picks up pace at the KC Stadium.
After agreeing a deal that could be worth up to £8m to land Tottenham midfielder Jake Livermore, the Tigers' cheque book remains open for the pursuit of Snodgrass.
The 26-year-old playmaker has featured prominently on the wish list of manager Steve Bruce all summer and City are now keen to draft another lucrative deal this week.
Snodgrass will almost certainly depart Carrow Road in the coming weeks after telling the Norwich board he is unwilling to sign an extension to a contract which expires at the end of next season.
The Canaries will reluctantly cash in on their Player of the Season ahead of a return to the Championship in August, but have made it clear to any suitors that Snodgrass will not leave on the cheap. Sources in East Anglia suggest Norwich will aim to pocket at least £6m.
City's hopes of a cut-price deal have not been helped by a reported show of interest from Premier League rivals QPR and Sunderland. West Brom, who last week beat the Tigers to the signature of free agent Joleon Lescott, have also been touted as a potential threat.
That will only help Norwich in their attempt to secure the best possible deal, but City remain hopeful of persuading Snodgrass to become the third Scotland international at the KC, joining Allan McGregor and George Boyd.
Snodgrass' value was noted by Bruce in an otherwise dismal season at Carrow Road. Scoring six goals in 29 Premier League starts, the efforts of the former Livingston and Leeds star were in vain as Norwich eventually succumbed to relegation.
Snodgrass has little appetite to return to the Championship with his 27th birthday coming in September and is desperate to continue his career in the top flight.
City hope to capitalise by tempting Norwich and Snodgrass into a deal and add another creative mind to a midfield that recently lacked guile.
The Tigers were last night attempting to conclude a transfer to make Livermore their first new arrival of the summer after Spurs agreed a £7m up-front fee, one that could eventually rise to £8m based on appearances.
Livermore was superb during a season-long loan at the KC last term, and always maintained his desire to return on a permanent basis.
