A man has died in an accident at a building in Hull city centre.
More than a dozen emergency vehicles were called to the premises at Queens House, Paragon Street, close to Hull City Hall, shortly before 4pm, after a report of "a possible industrial incident".
The Mail saw firefighters with cutting equipment entering the building.
It is understood the fatal accident involved a lift. However, at this stage the exact circumstances are still unclear.
A man who works in the building, who did not want to be named, said: "Sadly, a man has died."
He said the building had been evacuated during the incident.
A police statement read: "The man is thought to have been working in an area around the lifts in Queens House on Paragon Street when an incident occurred which resulted in the man sustaining fatal injuries."
Officers said there would be a police presence at the building throughout the night.
A Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "I can confirm we were called at 3.54pm today to a possible industrial accident at premises in Paragon Street, Hull. We deployed a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance, a clinical supervisor, two hazardous area response team vehicles and a doctor."
