TICKTON's Kyle Edmund has crashed out of Wimbledon in the first round following a comprehensive straight-sets defeat to Austria's Andreas Haider-Maurer 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 6-2.
Unforced errors played a part throughout the match on Court 12, particularly in the first set with 11 mistakes, and Edmund was left to rue a 6-3 loss.
With his tournament heading towards a defeat, the 19-year-old battled back in the second set to force Haider-Maurer into several tie-breaks, before eventually losing 7-6.
Haider-Maurer, 27, then pulled away in the third set, with Edmund beginning to tire as the match wore on. A 6-2 third set loss sealed the defeat for the East Yorkshire tennis star, whose Wimbledon dream is postponed for another year.
