The Mail says: The Warren must be saved

WHEN there is no one else to turn to, The Warren has always been there for East Yorkshire's young people.

For 30 years, the centre in Hull has been coming to the rescue, reaching out to young people who feel they have nowhere else to go.

It has reached out to scores of young people battling homelessness, mental health issues, and drugs and alcohol misuse.

And it has offered opportunities for many others to develop artistic talents and employment skills.

But now, it's facing its own battle for survival.

After struggling through almost four years of cuts, the centre is facing a crippling funding gap which could see it shut its doors for good, right at a time when its services are needed more than ever.

Young people are being hammered on all fronts with unemployment, housing problems and reductions in services designed to help and support them.

The last thing they, and this city, need is for The Warren to fall victim to the cuts.

That's why we're launching our campaign today to save The Warren.

While Siemens and the City of Culture announcements have quite rightly placed the focus on a bright future for our city, we must ensure our young people are not left behind.

They are Hull's future and must be allowed to flourish.

Our message is simple – The Warren must be saved.
