A test alarm will be sounded at Saltend Chemicals Park in Hull tomorrow.
The toxic alarm sounds like an old Second World War air raid siren and will be sounded while a BP staff training exercise is being carried out.
It is tested briefly at 2pm every Wednesday but, tomorrow, it will sound longer than normal.
The test is to ensure staff know how to respond to the warning properly.
To make it realistic, the workforce will not be pre-warned and therefore, the time for the alarm cannot be disclosed.
It will sound again at 2pm for the usual, weekly, test.
