Skirlaugh must cut error count against Wath Brow Hornets

SKIRLAUGH coach Colin Brown is pleading for his side to cut out silly errors which could cost them against Wath Brow Hornets tomorrow.

Brown's men were punished for their sloppy mistakes at in-form Castleford Lock Lane a fortnight ago, slipping to a 38-20 defeat.

Keen to return to winning ways as Skirlaugh look to pull away from the bottom half of the National Conference Premier, Brown is warning his players they will be stung by the Hornets if mistakes continue to creep in.

"Our priority is fixing up what went wrong last time out, and that was our error count," he told the Mail.

"All teams make mistakes, but ours led to many tries which we could not afford to do against a top team like Lock Lane.

"They were on fire and too hot to handle for us. We gave ourselves no chance with our high number of mistakes.

"Wath Brow are a similar team to Lock Lane in that they will punish you for those errors. They have had an inconsistent start to the season, but they're not last year's Grand Finalists for no reason.

"They're not the best travelling team so far this year, so we're confident we can put in a good performance and hopefully sneak a win at home."

Brown also has the luxury of a full squad to choose from, but a massive headache as to who to leave out.

"The lads have performed superbly in the last month or so and it will be difficult to drop any of them," he said.

"They know where they went wrong against Lock Lane, and the challenge now is to put that right against another top quality opponent."
