Hull KR Academy coach Stanley Gene has been named Gateshead Thunder coach from the 2014 season onwards.
Gene, who enjoyed two successful spells at Rovers as a player, has been a part of Craig Sandercock's backroom staff for the last two seasons. During that time, Rovers have established a strong link with Kevin Neighbour's Gateshead side with many KR players turning out for the north east side.
"I'm delighted to join Gateshead Thunder," Gene said. "They are a club I have had contact with this season because of their relationship with KR.
"I have been increasingly impressed with the lads and what Kevin has achieved. My ambition is to take the club to the next level and to continue the hard work that has been put in here already.
"I'll be up in the North East soon, and look forward to meeting the fans and sponsors."
