HE IS a boxing heavyweight champion of the world, losing just one fight in his professional career.
And now Riddick Bowe will step into the ring to face Hull FC's Lee Radford for a charity contest.
The duo will go toe-to-toe in three two-minute rounds at the KC Stadium tomorrow night.
Bowe, affectionately known as "Big Daddy", is now retired from the sport.
He became the first fighter to beat Evander Holyfield to claim his first world title in 1992.
He then became the first person to knock Holyfield out when he beat him for his second world title in 1995.
In his 43-contest professional career, Bowe only lost one fight and scored 33 knockouts.
He accepted an invitation to take part in the charity match from Dean Hoggard, of Life For A Kid, the charity that will benefit from the contest.
Dean said: "It's quite surreal really to think we have a double world champion coming to fight for our charity.
"Lee has had quite a lot of fights for us, but he is getting into the ring against someone who has only lost one of his 43 fights.
"It will be a fantastic experience for Lee to share a ring with him."
The fight will take place in the Kingston Suite with 350 fans watching.
The charity hopes to raise more than £15,000 from the event.
Lee said: "I have been boxing a while and I have done a few things for Dean and Life For A Kid.
"It is the charity I decided I wanted to benefit from my testimonial."
He said Dean contacted him to see if he would be interested in a contest with Riddick Bowe.
"I said yes, then two days later he said it was all confirmed and booked so I had no chance of backing out," said Lee.
"It is a massive honour to get in the ring with him.
"He is one of the greatest heavyweights of all time so to jump in the ring with him will be great."
Despite his high-profile opponent, Lee is keeping his nerve.
"I'm surprisingly calm about it at the moment," he said. "I'm sure there will be nerves leading up to it, but I have been involved in rugby league for more than 20 years and nerves are part and parcel of it, so I'm used to that."
He says training for the fight has been going well.
"I keep myself fit, I play for Hull Rugby Union and East Hull and when I have a fight coming up, I do a bit more boxing training.
"Hull FC have a big game against Warrington on Sunday so I'm getting Riddick to come and give them a talk about what he did before huge fights."
Bowe will also be given a Hull FC shirt with Big Daddy on the back to take back to the US.
The fight is one of a number on the night, which starts at 6.30pm.
VIP tickets cost £60 and include a photo with Riddick Bowe. Other tickets cost £40. To book, call Dean on 07891 506258 or email dean@lifeforakid.com
