HULL City are hopeful of making former Wigan star Maynor Figueroa the first new addition to their squad this summer.
Manager Steve Bruce immediately identified the man he signed for Wigan in 2008 as a top target following City's promotion to the Premier League.
Available on a free transfer after leaving relegated FA Cup winners Wigan, Figueroa has also been a target for West Ham manager Sam Allardyce, but they are no longer believed to be in the running for his services.
And sources have told the Mail City have been pleased with the progress made in negotiations with the player's agent, and will look to push them forward this week.
