THE granddaughter of a man killed when he was hit by a lorry is calling for safety improvements in Holderness Road.
Robert John McGoran, 71, died instantly after he was struck by the heavy goods vehicle at a pedestrian crossing in the busy east Hull road.
Now, Nadia Mohamed – the granddaughter of Mr McGoran's wife – believes more needs to be done to prevent such a tragedy happening again.
She said: "I think only lorries making deliveries in Holderness Road should be allowed down there.
"All the others should stay in Hedon Road, which has a dual carriageway."
Mr McGoran - known locally as 'Irish John' was at the pedestrian crossing close to Holland Street when he was hit by the vehicle at 1pm on Friday, April 26.
