FAMILY and friends of a mother who lost her battle with cancer have set up a charity foundation in her memory.
Kerry Key bravely fought breast cancer for seven years but died at her home last month, aged just 36. She was the mother of Lewis 13, who has severe learning disabilities, and Georgia, eight.
Despite gruelling treatment, Kerry, of Hedon, found time to raise thousands of pounds for charity. Now, the Kerry Key Foundation has been established to ensure others can carry on the good work.
Both her mum Carol Beauchamp and dad Tony Megson are involved in the foundation which will raise money for the four charities close to her heart – HER Breast Friends, St Anne's Community Special School, Jane Tomlinson's For All Events and Cancer Research.
Kerry's cousin Laura Davies helped set up the foundation. She said: "We feel, after everything, Kerry deserved to have a charity set up in her honour."
The new foundation will be officially launched on May 10 – two days before Kerry's 37th birthday.
The ticket-only event at the Alexandra Hall in Hedon will be a fancy dress party and aims to raise up to £4,000.
Miss Davies said: "Kerry loved fancy dress parties and so the theme is West End shows as Kerry also enjoyed London with her aunt Margaret Davies.
"It will be held at the Alexandra Hall, where Kerry had her own charity birthday night two years ago.
Fundraisers will take part in the Jane Tomlinson Hull 10k, Race For Life and the Midnight Walk this year.
