HULL FC player Brett Seymour has been discharged from hospital after overturning his BMW when he smashed into two parked cars.
Seymour has been placed on leave by the club following the crash in Hessle on Sunday night.Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident in Itlings Lane.
Mr Seymour, 28, did not suffer any serious injuries in the crash, which happened just before 10.30pm.
Club officials visited Mr Seymour in Hull Royal Infirmary before he was released from hospital, telling him he would be placed on leave with immediate effect.
A statement from the club said: "Hull FC have confirmed that first-team player Brett Seymour has been involved in a car accident.
"The accident occurred on Sunday evening and Seymour was subsequently taken to Hull Royal Infirmary.
"Medical examinations have revealed he suffered no serious injuries.
"His family, close friends and club officials visited him in hospital on Monday morning.
"The club have confirmed the player will be placed on leave with immediate effect."
A spokesman for the club said Mr Seymour did not suffer any broken bones in the crash but was cut and bruised. The Mail understands the two parked cars were badly damaged.
Mr Seymour returned to the Hull FC team in Saturday's 36-16 defeat at Widnes, having been dropped for the previous three matches.
The Australian started only his second game of the season, but did not finish it after being replaced with ten minutes to go in a one-sided defeat.
A spokesman for Humberside Police said: "Police attended a road traffic collision in Itlings Lane, Hessle.
"A blue BMW appears to have been in collision with two parked vehicles, which resulted in the BMW overturning.
"A 28-year-old man, who was travelling in the BMW, was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary by ambulance for treatment."
Mr Seymour's BMW was leaking petrol when firefighters from Calvert Lane fire station arrived.
A spokesman for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said: "Our attendance was requested by the police to make the vehicle safe.
"There were no people in the vehicle when the crew arrived, so they isolated the battery to make it safe and swilled away the petrol that had leaked on to the road."
