EVARN Tuimavave has warned his Hull KR team-mates not to be so wasteful when they are in possession at Wakefield this weekend.
Travelling to face a Wildcats side which lost 40-6 at Bradford, Rovers will also be hunting their first win of the new campaign in front of the Sky cameras on Saturday night.
Having handed Catalan too many of their tries on a plate in the Robins' opening 32-24 defeat at MS3 Craven Park, Tuimavave knows Rovers must eradicate those errors at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.
"Wakefield will always be a tough game at their place," he told the Mail.
"They will be wanting to bounce back from their defeat, just as we will.
"To do that, we can't afford to shoot ourselves in the foot like we did against Catalan.
"They didn't have to work too hard for their tries and their big players didn't have too much tackling to do at the start of the game. They had a few back-to-back sets and they were on the attack.
"We gave them too much ball and allowed them to piggy-back their way up the field.
"You can't do that against good teams."
Tuimavave's first experience of Super League may not have been a winning one, but the former Newcastle Knights prop did enjoy a decent competitive debut.
Coming on for Adam Walker moments before Jason Baitieri scored for Catalan to make it 12-2 in the 19th minute, he was surprised by how quick the play was.
And the 28-year-old is confident his side can start this Saturday's game against the Wildcats in a more lively manner, rather than waiting 50 minutes to get going.
"The pace of the game was good," said Tuimavave, who was replaced by Walker 15 minutes into the second half with Rovers trailing 26-12.
"I watched Hull's game at Leeds and noticed it was really quick. Our game was the same.
"There are plenty of positives to take from our second-half performance.
"We took time to loosen up, but when we did we played really well.
"Now we need to do that for the whole game not just for a spell of so many minutes.
"We know we need to do it for 80 minutes against Wakefield.
"As for my own game, there is always something you can work on and improve. But I'll sit down with Craig Sandercock and work on them this week."
