ROBBIE Brady has no regrets about quitting Manchester United last month and believes promotion back to the top flight with Hull City this season will soon see his decision vindicated.
Despite having another 18 months left to run on his Old Trafford contract, the 21-year-old took the bold step of leaving the Premier League leaders when turning his influential loan move with the Tigers into a permanent £2m switch.
As well as quickening his development over the last 18 months, regular football at the KC has also hastened Brady's breakthrough into the Republic of Ireland senior ranks.
A measure of his burgeoning reputation came on Sunday when he was named his country's under-21s Player of the Year and the Dublin-born rookie is in line for a fifth senior cap when Giovanni Trapattoni's side host Poland in a friendly tomorrow night.
Brady's rise to stardom shows few signs of relenting both on the domestic and international stage during 2013, and he has every faith a move to City will work in his favour.
"It's been brilliant so far," explained Brady. "I'm really enjoying my football now, playing week-in, week-out at a competitive level. It was the right move.
"I've got a lot of good friends (at Hull) and the club has high hopes for this season. We've been giving it a good push, we've been playing brilliantly so I thought it would be silly to go anywhere else in the Championship other than Hull.
"We've got a good group of lads and a good base and we want to give it a good push. We're ready for promotion this year I think."
Brady has established himself as an instrumental figure in City's promotion push since arriving back in Hull in late November.
Only one of his 11 starts for Steve Bruce's side has ended in defeat and the rookie has made the left wing-back role his own for the Tigers.
Brady says the Tigers' ambitions to reach the top flight have offset any disappointment felt in leaving United behind, and revealed he received congratulations from Sir Alex Ferguson.
"He said 'well done' and I'll always have the utmost respect and time for him because of the amount of things he's done for me over the last few years.
"It's been brilliant. I'm a Man United fan, I always have been and I always will be, but I'm a Hull player now and I'm looking forward to playing every week."
Although David Meyler's hopes of featuring for the Republic of Ireland were dashed by a knee injury suffered in Saturday's 1-0 win at Millwall, both Brady and Paul McShane will hope to feature against Poland.
The friendly fixture provides a chance to impress ahead of World Cup qualifiers with Sweden and Austria next month and having made his senior debut in September, he is hungry for more.
"I was over the moon that (Trapattoni) had the faith to bring me in," he said. "I have a good few caps under my belt and I'm looking forward to getting as many more caps as I can and hopefully getting some good results as the years go on."
