HULL City boss Steve Bruce will push to land the final piece of his transfer jigsaw today with a deadline day swoop for DJ Campbell after completing loan deals for Egyptian pair Gedo and Ahmed Fathi.
Six-month deals for Al Ahly striker Gedo and right-back Fathi were finalised yesterday and will be the first piece of business officially rubber-stamped today, pending visas and work permits.
However, Bruce remains on the hunt for a recognised English striker.
Top of the list is QPR striker Campbell and City were last night in advanced talks to land their preferred target.
The Mail understands the Tigers have agreed an undisclosed fee for the 31-year-old striker and permission has been granted to discuss a move to the KC Stadium today.
Although there is work still be done to complete a deal before the 11pm deadline, City are confident of reaching a compromise over Campbell's wage demands.

Crystal Palace and Ipswich have maintained an interest in Campbell, but the Tigers appear to have edged ahead in the race for his signature.
Campbell has always been City's preferred target but a frantic day of speculation saw both Wolves Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Blackpool's Kevin Phillips linked with moves.
Reports had suggested Ebanks-Blake had been the subject of a £1m bid from the Tigers, but the Mail understands City's interest has gone no further than an initial enquiry last week.
The 26-year-old, who is Wolves' top goalscorer this season, is out of contract at the end of the campaign. Manager Dean Saunders has admitted the striker would be available for the right price, but the Tigers interest has only ever been distant.
Phillips was another option mooted last night.
Although his availability was made known to the Tigers this week, a reunion with former Blackpool boss Ian Holloway at Crystal Palace appears to be Phillips' next destination.
Having already acquired David Meyler and Robbie Brady for £3.5m this month, as well as David Stockdale on loan from Fulham, Bruce agreed deals to make Gedo and Fathi his fourth and fifth signings of the January window yesterday. The Al Ahly pair were due in England today to finalise their loan moves.
City will then have to sort work permits and visas but as long as paperwork is lodged with the Football League, that process can go beyond the deadline.
Bruce is awaiting an answer on the future of former loan star Ahmed Elmohamady.
A second stint will hinge on Sunderland bringing in new faces and sources have suggested there is a "50-50" chance of Elmohamady rejoining the Tigers before tonight.
City would still be able to sign Elmohamady from February 8 but loan deals are then limited to 93 days.
