THE new manager of a notorious takeaway blamed by police for fuelling disorder says she is doing everything she can to rid the shop of its bad name.
Jenny Sellers took over the running of the Trio takeaway from her father at the end of last year after it was stripped of its alcohol licence.
Mrs Sellers, 26, has renamed the fish, chip and kebab takeaway in Anlaby Road Tasty.
She said: "I've not just changed the name, I've closed Trio and opened Tasty. Trio had a bad reputation with alcohol and court cases.
"When we sold alcohol, we had problems, I'm not saying we didn't.
"But when I took it over, I said I didn't want to sell alcohol.
"Even if they hadn't taken the licence, I wouldn't sell it.
"I'm a woman working in the shop and I can't deal with alcoholics coming in."
The shop lost its alcohol licence and was forced to stop selling food at 2.30am instead of 4am after two separate licensing reviews were carried out by Humberside Police and Hull City Council.
The police claimed the sale of alcohol was contributing to outbreaks of late-night anti- social behaviour.
Mrs Sellers said since the sale of alcohol stopped, there have been noticeable improvements.
She said: "All I want is nice family food customers and now we've stopped selling alcohol, I'm getting the customers I want.
"Since we've stopped selling alcohol, there has been no alcoholics, no arguments, no begging, it's been perfect.
"I'm getting the families in that I'd not seen before.
"I've improved the menu and we are now doing a delivery service."
Mrs Sellers also revealed police had linked her takeaway to a stabbing that happened outside the Tokyo club.
She said: "The police blamed my shop for the stabbing. They told me I sold alcohol to the person, but we didn't.
"The problem was we couldn't prove we hadn't served the man.
"The police came asking for our CCTV but it was three weeks after it happened and it had been wiped.
"The police told us they couldn't come sooner because they couldn't find our contact number on Google but that was a stupid reason.
"There are police cars driving past the shop all the time, someone could have come in to see us sooner.
"I also found out there were four other assaults in Hull that night and I can't be blamed for them all."
