MP urges people to take advantage of Green Deal
EAST YORKS: Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart is urging people in his constituency to take advantage of the Government's new Green Deal.
Its aim is that people, whether they own a home or pay rent, benefit from energy-saving work with no up-front charges.
Mr Stuart said: "More and more families are being hit by the rising cost of fuel bills and the best way people can protect themselves from increased costs is to use less energy; the more energy-efficient your home is, the less you spend on keeping it warm.
"The Green Deal is for everybody to improve the energy efficiency of their home and save money on their energy bills.
"Previous schemes were limited to people in receipt of benefits and were restrictive in the type of energy improvements they could deliver. The Green Deal is different and is open to everybody and can do a lot more, including solid wall insulation and heat recovery systems."
To register for the scheme, call the Energy Saving Advice Service on 0300 1231234 or visit www.gov.uk/greendeal for more information."
EAST YORKS: The monthly Humber Bridge Farmers' Market is returning to the viewing area in Hull for the first event of the year on Sunday, from 9am to 1pm.
There will be more than 100 stalls selling seasonal, regional produce and a dedicated crafts section.
Neil Marshall, business manager at the Humber Bridge, said: "Last year was very positive for the market, and saw us significantly expand the event and welcome twelve new traders.
"We're confident this year will prove just as successful, and we've got plenty of exciting plans for our customers to look forward to in 2013."
The market is also continuing its trader-of-the- month scheme, in which visitors are asked to nominate their favourite stall for each event.
Each winner will be rewarded with free stall rent for the next event and visitors who make a nomination will be entered into a prize draw, with a chance of winning a £25 gift voucher to spend at the next market.
