Tom Ince will cost Hull City just over £2m after thrashing out fee with Blackpool

Hull City will pay Blackpool £2m for Tom Ince after a compensation agreement was finally struck between the two clubs. The issue was set to be decided by an independent tribunal today but, on the back of late negotiations, a fee was eventually settled by City and Blackpool on Wednesday night. The initial payment of £2m could be boosted by a series of additional installments, such as Ince making a set number of appearances and if City avoid relegation from the top flight. Nevertheless, City will still view this resolution as a victory. Blackpool had initially been asking for £8m – the same fee that had offered by Cardiff City 18 months ago. The Seasiders were well aware the final compensation fee would be significantly lower but they were also hopeful it would far more than the £2m that has been agreed upon for an England under-21s regular. Ince has made eight appearances for City since arriving last summer but has featured in four of the last five games following his return from a loan spell at Nottingham Forest. The 22-year-old will be hopeful of further action as an injury-hit Tigers head to West Ham on Sunday.
