Morrisons has today confirmed its Bransholme store at the North Point Shopping Centre has been earmarked for closure.
The supermarket chain announced yesterday that it was planning to close ten loss-making stores after a poor Christmas sales performance.
The firm's chief executive, Dalton Philips, is also leaving the chain after five years in charge.
The 958-square-metre store was opened in June 2011, when 25 jobs were created. It was previously occupied by Netto.
A Morrisons spokesperson said: "We have looked extremely carefully at whether the store can be turned around but unfortunately we cannot see a way of making it viable. We are therefore proposing its closure.
"We are consulting with colleagues and unions to reduce the risk of redundancies and we are looking at ways of redeploying colleagues around our business."
As well as the store at North Point Shopping Centre, the supermarket also has a branch in Holderness Road and others in Brough, Beverley, Anlaby, Bridlington and Goole.
A spokesperson for the store said it was in the very early stages of discussions with staff and there is no indication about when the store might close.
