Luke Campbell and Tommy Coyle will both face former British champions in their next bouts. The Hull duo will top a bill at the Hull Arena on March 7, with Sam Eggington, Shayne Singleton and Rocky Fielding also named on the card. With Campbell and Coyle set to meet in a battle of Hull in the summer, the two lightweights have been handed tricky tests. Undefeated Campbell faces his toughest test yet against former British super-featherweight champion Gary Sykes, while Coyle takes on ex-British lightweight champion Martin Gethin. Sykes inflicted the first professional defeat of Coyle's career back in 2012 with a points win in the Prizefighter tournament and will arrive with a wealth of experience and at 30-years-old, still in his prime and ready to catapult himself back into the elite. Gethin got back to winning ways last time out after successive defeats against Ammeth Diaz, Derry Matthews and Terry Flanagan. The 31-year-old had been scheduled to face Jack Catterall for the WBO European title, but withdrew in order to take on Coyle. "It's a good fight for me and one I am really excited about, it's a really good show too," Coyle told the Mail. "Martin is a former champion, he's been in with some real quality and I know I will have to be at my best to get the win. "It's the final hurdle before the Luke fight and myself and Luke both know we have to perform well. I'm already in training and i'll be ready com March 7." With the planned meeting between Campbell and Coyle still on for the summer, promoter Eddie Hearn knows this latest test is one the two local stars have to navigate safely. "These are great fights for Luke and Tommy to lay down a marker ahead of their explosive clash in the summer," said Hearn. "Both guys will be out to impress in front of the home fans and indeed each other, but Gary and Martin will be aiming to scupper their plans and add famous scalps to their already impressive CVs – there will be plenty of tension in the air with Luke and Tommy knowing they must come through their fights in style to set up the showdown that their hometown fans crave." Tickets for the event go on general sale on Tuesday morning from www.matchroomboxing.com.
