FORMER Hull City players took on Tigers' supporters today during a charity match in memory of a teenage fan who died from an undiagnosed heart condition. Nick Barmby, Mark Greaves and Justin Whittle were among a team of Hull City Legends taking on players from the official supporters' club in memory of Tigers fan Josh Fell. Josh died aged just 15-years-old from sudden arrhythmia death syndrome while playing football with friends on Hornsea School and Language College's field. Today's five-a-side game took place at Airco Arena on behalf of Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), a charity Josh's parents have raised £60,000 for since his death three-and-a-half years ago. Mr Greaves, who played for the Tigers from 1996 to 2002, rallied the former players to take part in the charity match. He said: "We managed to get a really decent line-up of players, particularly Nick Barmby, which is great to see. "It is a great charity which all the boys care about. "Josh's parents do a tremendous job raising money and awareness so this is just our way of doing a little bit to help them." The game kicked off at 11pm to scores of supporters who watched from the balcony above. Among them was Josh's mum, Donna, 40, who cheered on husband and Josh's dad, Rich, 43, who was playing on the supporter's team. Donna said: "Josh would be over the moon, especially because Nick Barmby is playing because he was around when Josh was still here." Rich took to the pitch in memory of his son despite not playing football for years. He said: "I am pretty nervous about playing because I don't usually but it is for Josh so I will give it a go." The game was the latest fundraising event organised by the Hull City Official Supporters' Club (HCOSC), of which Josh was a member of. They have also sold hundreds of wristbands, both raising awareness and money for CRY. Nadine Matthews, one of the directors of the HCOSC, said: "Seeing the family here today and the appreciation from them is great. "They have done a fantastic job for the charity. "Josh was a Hull City fan and he was part of the supporters group so it is something that is close to all of us." The former city players who took part were: Andy Saville, Gary Hobson, Steve Wilson, Mark Greaves, Dave Brown, Nick Barmby, Neil Mann, Lawrie Dudfield, Justin Whittle, Adam Lowthorpe and Ryan Williams.
