Hull FC's opening pre-season game at York City Knights is under threat of being called off. The match on January 11 is one of two games being played by Hull that day, with a side also travelling to face Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium. The Knights have left their Huntington Stadium home and are relocating to Bootham Crescent for the next two years while the venue is redeveloped. But it has emerged the necessary agreements with the City of York Council over the switch are yet to be signed off. The Minstermen's communications and community director Sophie McGill has now warned that if those agreements are not reached this week the friendly will need to be hosted at another venue. It takes 20 working days to secure a change in Bootham Crescent's stadium safety certificate to allow rugby league to be staged at the football club's home ground, with time now against the Knights. Lee Radford is expected to coach the team at York, but will oversee the Doncaster game in place of Richard Horne should the York game fail to take place.
