Police are searching for a vandal who sprayed graffiti on road signs, bus shelters, walls and pavements along the length of Victoria Road in Beverley.
The same "tag" has been painted in several places along the street.
PCSO Steve Cheung, of the Beverley Neighbourhood Policing Team, described it as a "senseless act of criminal damage".
He said: "This has affected not only the residents of the area but visitors to the town.
"Some of the graffiti has affected private properties, (and the owners) will have to foot the bill to remove it.
"We are appealing for anyone who witnessed this or has any information to come forward as soon as possible to help bring those responsible to justice and to prevent further damage."
