A homeowner says it is a miracle no one was seriously injured when a car crashed into his conservatory.
John Hart, 58, was watching television when a silver Golf came off the road, smashed through his garden fence and into the conservatory of his home in Sancton, near Market Weighton.
The conservatory was almost completely demolished and will need to be replaced. The driver suffered only a minor hand injury.
He said: "I was sat watching the highlights of the grand prix in the room next to the conservatory when I saw our fence fly all over the place and heard a big bang.
"I turned around and my conservatory was down."
The accident happened in King Street just before 7.30am today.
Mr Hart said: "There was a crash at the top of the bank coming into Sancton. The car must have hit the footpath on the other side of the road, and then come back across the road hitting the fence and wall before it took off going into the garden.
"It is a good job there wasn't a car coming in the opposite direction."
When Mr Hart heard the crash he called the emergency services before going outside to check on the driver. The police, fire and ambulance services were all called to the scene.
"After I heard the bang and saw the conservatory fall down the first thing I did was phone the operator and asked for an ambulance," he said.
"I couldn't get to the driver at first because of all the debris. I had to go via the main road. When I got there he was out of the car and had hurt his hand. He was really shaken up.
"I'm not surprised, as it was a hell of a collision. There was a big bump down the roof of his car, so he was very lucky."
Mr Hart's wife, Susan, was at work in Leeds when the crash happened. She said: "My husband called me at work saying we had a disaster and our conservatory had gone after a car had lost control."
Mrs Hart, who is a civil servant, left work to rush home.
"It is a miracle no one has been hurt," she said. "On Sunday my husband was sat in the conservatory at the same time the car came through on Monday.
"The TV has gone in the crash and so has my husband's favourite chair, which was flattened.
"But there was nothing of sentimental value in the conservatory and the main thing is that no one has been hurt."
"I don't think it's the first time the house has been hit by the car. In the 80s, before we moved in, I think a car hit the house.
Although Mr and Mrs Hart were unaware of the cause of the crash, they said they had previously campaigned for safety improvements in the village.
Mr Hart said: "We've tried to get speed cameras and speed enforcement but not had any luck. It is busy first thing in the morning and at night. Opposite our house there is a nursery."
Anyone with information about the crash should call Humberside Police on 101.
