Beverley's skyline is changing dramatically as major development at a £120m regeneration site is on target for completion next October.
Work is now well under way on the £70m commercial side of the Flemingate development.
Global fashion retailer Arcadia is among those already signed up to the site and further announcements are expected shortly.
Guy Evans, head of development at Hull's Wykeland Group, said: "We are now about a third of the way into our 18-month construction programme and I'm delighted to say the work is progressing very well, on budget and on schedule.
"We are confident of achieving our target completion date of late October 2015."
Fashion giant Arcadia will be operating its Outfit brand from the site, which will include Topshop and Topman.
It will be joined by other top retailing brands such as Debenhams, H&M and Wilkinson.
Alongside the stores there will be restaurants, including Zizzi, a five-screen digital Parkway cinema complex and multi- storey parking for more than 500 cars.
There will also be a Premier Inn on the ten-acre development.
More retailers are also lining up for units on the former industrial site.
Mr Evans said: "Interest from potential occupiers continues to be very good and we are currently in late-stage negotiations with several retailers.
"We are expecting to be able to make a further announcement in this respect early in the new year."
Next to the retail development are 130 homes, which have already been built.
Work is also progressing on a new Beverley campus for East Riding College, which will relocate from Gallows Lane in the town.
Kerri Harold, East Riding ward councillor for the area, said: "It is exciting to see it all taking shape.
"For a long time it seemed nothing was happening, but now it's moving at a really fast rate and you can see the outline of the buildings. It will change Beverley dramatically and it's a very exciting prospect."
Cllr Harold said the development would breathe new life into the Flemingate area, which is close to Beverley Minster.
She said: "The whole development will revitalise this part of Beverley.
"I know some have fears about the town centre, but we will get more high street retailers coming in so people won't have to go out of town for their shopping.
"I'm also looking forward to East Riding College relocating to the site."
The £14m flagship campus will showcase college learning facilities, including a ground- floor restaurant, hair and beauty salon and a travel agency, all run by students.
It will feature 30 teaching rooms with specialist IT facilities and a large learning resource centre.
A key element will be the Energy Technology Centre, which will provide facilities for small to medium-sized enterprises, corporate support services and links to training across a range of business, energy and environmental services.
Once a former tannery and chemical factory site, the mixed development at Flemingate will create about 700 jobs, as well as more than 130 during construction.
The long-awaited development has been in the planning since 2005.
