UPSET residents have raised concerns about increased antisocial behaviour and vandalism at a popular park. The play area in Stroud Crescent East, Bransholme, has had bins wrecked and broken glass left on the ground in recent weeks. There have also been reports of littering.

The Mail revealed in February how a £12,000 CCTV system was going to be installed near the park following a spate of vandalism.

It was also hoped a Park Watch scheme would be launched with residents.

While the latter has happened, concerned residents are still waiting for cameras to be installed.

Anita Davies, 44, said: "I don't live very far from the park at all and the vandalism there is terrible. It is not somewhere I would want to go on my own at night.

"My kids use the play park after school and sometimes at weekends, but it has got to the point where we are being put off because of smashed glass everywhere and litter.

"When you do find a spot without litter or glass, you are never too far from a piece of dog dirt.

"It is a great shame because the community was really pleased when the park was introduced. We just want local people to be more responsible in their actions."

Eventually, the cameras will monitor both the park and Coleford Grove Primary School, which is the new home of Hull Isberg Rugby Club.

It is also hoped the play zone will undergo a significant expansion.

The £30,000 facility was officially opened by pupils from St Mary Queen of Martyrs Primary School in Nidderdale in November last year.

They had worked with designers and the North Carr Area Team to draw up the plans.

A team spokesman said: "We are very sorry to hear people's concerns about the play area.

"A repaired litter bin will, hopefully, be put back in next week. We are also planning to put another new bin in the park.

"Any suggestions for the best location are welcome.

"We have asked the council's Streetscene Team and park rangers to clean up the area.

"Funding has been allocated for CCTV at this location and will, hopefully, be installed over the next couple of months."
