WHAT does the future hold for Harry Maguire?
The 21-year-old defender hasn't featured much for Steve Bruce's side this season and Championship clubs are looking to sign him on loan.
Wigan and Birmingham are keeping tabs on the former Sheffield United defender who is still waiting for his chance from Steve Bruce.
No matter who you are, you want to be playing games regularly, and Maguire is no different.
It's now down to who will take a chance on him.
Unfortunately, he is a long way down the pecking order at City with the first choice trio of Curtis Davies, James Chester and Michael Dawson.
Paul McShane and Alex Bruce are ahead of him waiting in the wings so a loan move probably looks the most viable option.
A number of factors go into who to go on loan to.
Where he lives and how far he has to commute is one part of it because you don't want to be driving for long periods before and after training.
Knowing somebody at one of the clubs will help him settle in quicker so that could help him decide who to play for.
He also needs to know he will be playing regularly, otherwise there is little point in him going anywhere.
If he's going to spend time on the sidelines at another club, he might as well do that at City.
When Maguire was signed, he wasn't supposed to be an immediate success, he was an investment for the future.
It comes down to the player what he wants to do, but playing for the under-21s at Middlesbrough on Tuesday afternoon doesn't bode well for the young lad. There are two different under-21s levels, and the one City find themselves in is not the best standard.
Maguire needs a better level than that for him to develop his game and stand any chance of making his Premier League debut.
Whatever happens, Maguire needs to be playing as often as he can.
Right now he just needs to keep his head down, work hard and do all he can to impress his manager.
