Hull City winger Ahmed Elmohamady has withdrawn from Egypt's African Cup of Nations qualifiers with Botswana this week due to injury.
Reports in Elmohamady's homeland suggest he is one of four players to drop out of coach Shawky Gharib's plans after meeting up with the squad yesterday.
Although the Egyptian FA have not detailed the nature of Elmohamady's injury, it is thought to relate to a problem suffered in City's 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The 27-year-old injured both his arm and back during the first half and was eventually replaced in the final minute by Alex Bruce.
City will monitor Elmohamady's fitness upon his return to East Yorkshire in the coming days but medical staff are hopeful he will be fit enough to face Arsenal on Saturday week.
Elmohamady's injury woe is a blow to Egypt, whose qualification for the African Cup of Nations in January is under threat ahead of facing Botswana away on Friday and at home on Wednesday.
