The boy suffered serious injuries when he was attacked with what police described as a "sharp object" outside shops near the junction with Strand Close. A witness said the boy had been stabbed in the neck. Police said a man left the area following the assault. A 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody. The boy is being treated in Hull Royal Infirmary. Police have cordoned off the pavement outside the shops. Forensics, a crime scene investigation van, a police car and an ambulance were all called to the scene. "Detectives have praised the public for their assistance and would urge any other witnesses to come forward."
Amy Wilson, 62, who lives in Strand Close said: "There is blood on the pavement and police everywhere. "It is shocking. A man has been hurt and you always worry when there are police officers and forensics everywhere." Call Humberside Police on 101, quoting log 216 of September 26.
