But how much would he have been worth at his peak in the current climate?Steve Bruce believes the midfielder would have commanded a staggering £70m in his prime, given his stellar goal-scoring record.
Lampard is Chelsea's record goal-scorer, netting 211 time in 13 years, and started his City tally with a dramatic strike against his past employers last Sunday.
Welcoming the 36-year-old to the KC Stadium for tomorrow's clash with the reigning champions, Bruce has lavished praise on Lampard's fitness levels which has seen him go on to become a 'phenomenal' player.
"How much would Frank Lampard be worth now if he was in his pomp? A 20 goals a year man for the last 15 years? He'd be worth £60m or £70m," Bruce told the Daily Mail.
"He's been quite a remarkable player. Every young player with any aspiration in the game should maybe have a look at him.
"He's 36 now and his fitness levels are staggering. He's been a staggering player.
"Frank has been a great player for the Premier League. The word great is used too much but if you look at his record, he's been a phenomenal player. Still doing it now at 36 is incredible."Merson backs Sky Blues to hit three
Scoring seven goals midweek against Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup, it would take a brave man to bet against Manchester City scoring more at the KC Stadium tomorrow afternoon.
And whilst Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes Manuel Pellegrini's side won't be in for such an easy ride, they will be far too strong for the Tigers.
"You wouldn't say this is an easy game for Man City, but you would expect them to win," he wrote in his TeamTalk predictions column.
"Hull threw away a two-goal lead at Newcastle last Sunday and will be kicking themselves and I thought Manchester City looked good against Chelsea, even after Pablo Zabaleta was sent off.
"They also scored seven against Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, so it seems like things are starting to click for them." PAUL PREDICTS: 1-3Savage doesn't back down in Pardew rowRobbie Savage is a pundit who's not afraid to pull any punches, and his criticism of Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew prior to Hull City's 2-2 draw at St James' Park hit a nerve with the Toon boss.
However, the Welshman has stood by his opinion that Pardew is a 'broken' man.
Speaking in his Daily Mirror column, Savage says there's nothing he said about the Magpies manager that he wouldn't say to his face.
"Alan Pardew did not like it when I said he sounded like a broken man after Newcastle's heavy defeat to Southampton," he wrote.
"I stand by what I said, but I hope he knows by now my criticism is nothing personal.
"Just to prove I am even-handed about Pardew's predicament, I thought his substitutions against Hull last weekend were brave and spot-on."Boyd: Burnley set-up similar to Tigers
Former Hull City winger George Boyd says the set-up at Burnley is similar to that he experienced at the Tigers – and he hopes that'll stand them in good stead to remain in the Premier League.
Boyd joined the Clarets on a three-year deal for £3m before the transfer window closed earlier this month.
Burnley travel to West Brom on Sunday on the back of three scoreless draws. But Boyd, speaking to the Burnley Express, is sure that this team has what it takes to stay up.
"It's so similar (to Hull)," he said. "Steve Bruce was always building on the defence and then building forward. Keep clean sheets and you'll win games. It's very similar.
"Promoted team, great team spirit very similar to Hull and there's no doubt I think we'll survive."Tigers launch FIFA15 cover art
