Police are appealing for witnesses after armed robbers attacked a bank in Bridlington. Two men wearing masks threatened four staff at the TSB bank on Manor Street this morning before tying them up and demanding cash as staff prepared to open the branch. The suspects escaped in a white VW Golf leaving the staff members shaken, but unhurt. A spokesman for Humberside Police said: "The alarm was raised at 9.10am today soon after the robbery had happened. "At this time it appears two males have carried out the robbery, threatening staff and tying them up in the process. "We are treating this incident very seriously and would urge any members of the public with information to come forward." Local business owners say the branch has remained closed all day and there is still a police cordon in place. Sandwich shop owner Dawn Harver saw officers arrive at the scene shortly after the alarm was raised. "At about 9.15am I heard police cars tearing through the street and there was a big commotion outside. "At first I thought someone had been knocked over by a car but then we heard the bank had been robbed. "I've been here seven years and I've never heard of anything happening like that round here so we're all a bit surprised." Nina Pickering, landlady of The Half Moon pub, said: "I was down here from 9am but I didn't see or hear a thing until the police showed up and we heard there had been a robbery. "Nobody has been in to tell us anything yet so there are a lot of rumours flying around." Anyone with information should contact Humberside Police immediately on 101 quoting log 206 of 20/09/14 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
