RESIDENTS have spoken of their shock after armed police swooped on a Bransholme street twice in two days.
Officers were called to an "altercation" in Tenterden Close in Bransholme at 10am yesterday after reports of firearms being involved.
Armed officers had first been called to the street on Tuesday at about 7pm, when four men were arrested on suspicion of discharging a firearm.
The Mail understands officers were also called to the street on Wednesday night.
Residents say they are worried after the call-outs came so close together.
One man who lives on the street said: "It was Tuesday about 7pm, the dog started barking. Obviously there was something going on because the dog was barking.
"We looked outside and armed police officers had somebody pinned on the grass, handcuffed.
"We went to the back of the house to see what was going on and there was a police officer in the next-door garden, a canine unit and an armed police officer looking in the gardens.
"After that, there was a lot of armed police stationed about for about an hour and half, then police left and a couple of PCSOs stayed for a while."
The resident said unarmed officers returned to the street on at 5pm on Wednesday.
Speaking yesterday, the man said: "They were here until about 5.30pm and obviously they've been back this morning, armed police again, but I'm not sure what they did.
"There were two at the back and the canine unit at the back of the house.
"The first night, I'm not sure. There was a couple out here and they sealed the area off.
"The police haven't said anything, they've just said it's an incident. We've got kids and, if there's guns involved, obviously it's concerning. They have a mind of their own once they are fired.
"There's not been anything like this around here. It's been a quiet street, no real vandalism, nothing.
"Everybody's concerned because there's armed police officers – anybody would be.
"There's been no real trouble from the house before that.
"Usually you get some kind of pre-warning but there's been nothing, not police or any kind of disturbances at the house, so it's a bit out the blue."
Another male resident said roads were blocked off on Tuesday and people were told to stay indoors.
He said: "When they came on the first night, they secured the area and were stopping people from coming in and out.
"There were police walking up and down telling people not to go near the house because there's armed police, but the police wouldn't say why.
"It's quite strange, the fact it's happened twice in days.
"It's not every day you see armed police outside your door, aiming guns at the house. I've never known this around here, it's always quiet."
Police would not confirm whether the men arrested on Tuesday are still in custody.
A spokesman for Humberside Police said there was a "concern firearms may have been involved" in the altercation yesterday.
She said: "Armed officers were deployed to Tenterden Close, Hull, at approximately 10am today after a report was received of a possible altercation at an address previously visited by police.
"Officers attended and inquiries are ongoing."
She confirmed no one was arrested.
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
