THE pilot and passenger of a private helicopter that crashed into the North Sea off Flamborough Head have been named by police.
Captain Brian Bridgman, 58, of Canterbury, Kent, who was piloting the Jet Ranger aircraft, and passenger John Stephen Kent, 50, of Romford, Essex, were pronounced dead at the scene of Tuesday's tragedy.
A Humberside Police spokesman said: "The investigation into the incident, which resulted in the aircraft crashing into the sea, is being led by the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB).
"Meanwhile Humberside Police continue to work alongside the AAIB and are offering support to the families of the two deceased men."
Witnesses describe seeing the aircraft plummet into the sea at around 1.40pm near the lighthouse, next to Flamborough Head Golf Club.
Crash investigators were resuming their investigation today after they were forced to abandon attempts to recover the wreckage yesterday due to poor weather.
