Hull KR back rower Jason Chan will play his last game for Rovers on Sunday with the regret he couldn't help the Robins reach the play-offs.

Chan, who joined KR on loan two months ago from Huddersfield Giants, plans to return to Australia at the end of the season.

He wants to go out on a winning note against Wakefield after Sunday's 32-14 defeat to Catalan meant the Robins missed out on the play-offs.

"We want to go to Wakefield and go out on a win," Chan told the Mail.

"We want to feel a bit better going into the off-season.

"Even if we don't win, we need to put in a really good effort and play with energy and do the best we can instead of putting in another lacklustre performance.

"We don't want to finish like that. The scoreline against Catalan didn't reflect what we did in the game.

"Before the final 10 minutes, we were in a good contest. We let things slide in the final 10 minutes when they scored three good tries."

Chan scored a good try of his own, bouncing off several Dragons to give the Robins a 14-12 lead eight minutes into the second half.

But it was a lead that lasted five minutes as Catalan finished with a flourish to secure their place in the play-offs.

It was the Dragons' fifth straight victory in east Hull and the second time this season the French side had beaten Rovers, following their 37-24 win at the Stade Gilbert Brutus on Easter Monday.

Chan wished he could have helped his new team extend their season by making the top eight, but it wasn't to be.

"I'd love to have helped Rovers reach the play-offs," he said.

"We have a cracking squad and good coaching team.

"It's a great club to be at and I'd love to be involved in the play-offs, but it wasn't to be.

"I've enjoyed my time at Rovers, they have treated me really well.

"I feel I've had a couple of good games after an average season at Huddersfield.

"It's a shame the season ends the way it has. I want to finish in style this weekend."

Chan's loan spell at Rovers has been a success.

Some fans would like to see Chris Chester persuade him to stay another season instead of returning to Australia.

Chan didn't rule out the possibility of continuing his playing career in England, but that might just be to keep all possible options open.

"Sunday could be my last game in England," Chan said.

"You never shut all doors."
