THE injuries sustained by a pilot, whose light aircraft crashed near South Cave, are not life-threatening, the Mail understands.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said the fixed-wing microlight crashed close to Beverley Road following take-off from the Mount Airey airfield, shortly before 6pm on Friday.
The aircraft came down in the next field along from the airfield just moments after taking off.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called to take the man to hospital, while firefighters made the aircraft safe.
A spokesman for farm business L.E. May and Son, which owns the land on which the airfield is based, said: "The pilot was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary where, we are told, he remains comfortable and his injuries aren't life-threatening."
