WILD rumours on Twitter should always be taken with a pinch of salt initially, but one transfer whisper linking Rafael van der Vaart with the Tigers is a long shot at best.
The former Spurs frontman has been linked several times in the window over a move back to the Premier League.
Currently plying his trade in the Bundesliga at Hamburg, van der Vaart retained his role as club captain – possibly in order to dispel all rumours of a departure.
With many other strikers at Hull City's disposal, it seems as though fans are in dreamland linking van der Vaart with any possible move to the KC Stadium.
Only at the beginning of the month did he rubbish reports suggesting he has been contacted by City's opponents in the 2014/15 season opener on Saturday, Queens Park Rangers.
A reunion with his former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp was mooted, but the player was adamant that no move has been discussed with QPR.
The 31-year-old midfielder told BILD: "Harry Redknapp has not been in touch with me. He has not phoned me.
"In football you never know, but so far we have not been in touch.
"Harry Redknapp and I enjoyed a really great relationship back at Tottenham. He is a top-quality manager.
"I was in great form back then. I scored 12 (Premier League) goals in one season and I netted 13 in the other season."
And it's highly unlikely van der Vaart will be getting a phone call from Steve Bruce, who expects no more City transfer business to be done before the start of the season.
But never say never.Hoilett hails Tigers season – as QPR target de Guzman signature
ON the topic of QPR, Junior Hoilett believes his club can take a lot from the Tigers as the teams prepare to do battle at Loftus Road on Saturday.
Following the R's return to the top flight, Hoilett believes Rangers should be looking to emulate the Tigers in their bid to consolidate their place in the Premier League.
"Coming up from the Championship you want to get some quick wins under your belt straight away," Hoilett told www.qpr.co.uk.
"Hull did that really well last season and then built on it and that's what we have to try and emulate.
"They are in the Europa League and have signed some decent players so will be no pushovers.
"Last season was an excellent achievement for them and if we can imitate what they did then we should also have a good one."
Meanwhile, QPR are confident that £7m target Jonathan de Guzman will be signed from Villarreal in time for their season opening fixture against City. The Daily Express say the club have made a bid for the midfielder who spent two years on loan at Swansea, and discussions were said to be progressing last night.
De Guzman scored nine goals for the Swans and is keen on another stint in the Premier League after returning from World Cup duties with Holland.Dundee United move on without Robertson
MANY tipped Dundee United to struggle after selling their prized asset Andy Robertson to Hull City.
However, Ryan Dow reckons his side's 3-0 opening day win at Aberdeen has proven the doubters wrong.
Robertson scored in City's pre-season win in Stuttgart on Sunday to open his account for the Tigers, but Dow wants his side to move on and build for the future.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Dow said: "People can write us off but it's a bit of disrespectful to the other boys who were here last year and played well.
"Andy was fantastic but it was everybody in the squad who did well together. We're looking to continue that.
"He is still a big loss but Conor Townsend came in and did well at left-back. The squad is still strong."Strong shirt sales
AND finally, Hull City have reported record-breaking sales of the Club's brand new home kit since its launch last Wednesday.
An impressive 1,900 shirts were snapped up by Tigers fans in the opening two days of sales, a significant increase on last year's sales when the club sold 1,440 in the space of a full week.
The first two days of last season's launch saw 698 shirts sold, meaning sales have doubled in the same time frame. Over 2,500 2014/15 shirts have been sold to date.
