A passenger forced to land a plane when the pilot collapsed and died in mid-flight, has met the East Yorkshire RAF crew who guided him to safety.
John Wildey met the Leconfield-based crew today.
He landed the light aircraft in darkness at Humberside Airport on October 8, after his pilot collapsed and died at the controls.
Mr Wildey, 77, was guided in by air traffic controllers and an RAF Sea King helicopter from the Search and Rescue 202 Squadron.
Mr Wildey said: "It has been great to meet the crew here.
"I wrote them a letter to thank them but to meet them face-to-face is fantastic.
"They saved my life and I cannot thank them enough."
The Sea King flew in close proximity to Mr Wildey as its crew members Stu Gwinnutt, Becca Bethell, Ian Griffiths, Rick Jones and Rob Chambers, offered him help and guidance.
Flight Lieutenant Becca Bethell said: "We orbited around Mr Wildey's aircraft and spoke to him to offer him support and guidance.
"We didn't want him to think he was alone. He did an incredible job and to finally meet him is fantastic."
