A MAN has been charged with attempting to rape a woman who was dragged off the street and sexually assaulted.
The 22-year-old was pulled into bushes near Staples and American Golf, off Osborne Street, as she walked home at around 3.20am on July 18.
After the attack, police released CCTV images of a man they wanted to speak to.
Christopher Paul Byrne, 23, of St Paul's Drive, Wakefield, was arrested on Wednesday in West Yorkshire.
He has today been charged with attempted rape, sexual assault and committing an offence with the intention of committing a relevant sexual offence.
Mr Byrne is due to appear at Hull Magistrates' Court on August 15.
