It would be interesting to know if Hull City Council has any plans regarding the future of Scott Street Bridge.
Due to safety reasons, the bridge was closed in 1994, and for the past 20 years its two huge sections have pointed grotesquely skyward.
The bridge is a listed building, having been built in 1901, in theory therefore it could be restored, but at a cost of about £5m.
Flagship projects within the UK City of Culture 2017, however, guarantee this is unlikely to happen.
In order to prevent it becoming a hazard to river traffic, the bridge still has to be regularly maintained.
Given that road traffic and pedestrians have 15 alternative crossings at their disposal, surely the most sensible option would be to completely dismantle this eyesore?
