Shoppers and residents in Bransholme have reported a widespread power cut on the estate this morning.
North Point Centre, in Goodhart Road, lost power at about 8am.
Various other roads in the area of the shopping facility also reported power cuts.
Resident Chris Rex said: "There has been a huge power cut at North Point Centre and other parts of the estate.
"Nobody is particularly sure what caused it but it has affected other parts of the estate too."
Louise Smith, the manager of North Point, said Northern Powergrid, which manages power infrastructure in the area, had told her "the interruption is due to a fault on the underground cable network affecting 1,636 customers".
11.15am update: Shopping centre manager Louise Smith confirms the power is back on.
